Coast Homes ‘The Point’ | Residential Display Home Campaign
Like the Trigg surf break it takes its name from, The Point, has an unmistakably coast feeling. Natural light, timber, glass and sandy-hued freefrom stonework bring he outside into the home, while the spaces themselves are generous, relaxed and genuinely liveable.
For Coast Homes, that feeling is intentional. The Point was designed for a family with growing kids, balancing beautifully considered design and natural materials with the realities of everyday life.
Working closely with Jasmin Bernhagen from agency Lateral Aspect, Matt led the photography and cinematography across a two-day stills and motion campaign around the home. The creative approach moved between the home itself and the people inhabiting it – arriving home, opening cupboards, reading by a window, moving through the house and heading outside to the pool.
Alongside this we created interior and exterior imagery without talent, giving Lateral Aspect and Coast Homes a broader library to work with across the campaign.
Before photographing a building, Matt likes to understand what matters about it. At The Point, one of those things was the stone. Coast Homes Managing Director Dean Harris, drew Matt’s attention to its significance to the build, and Matt carried that into the way he approached the imagery.
The other was something Matt noticed himself. Upstairs, the main bedroom flows through the build-in robe and into the ensuite without feeling like a series of seperate rooms.
“I remember thinking wow, this is how it should be. It just flowed.”
That sense of flow became part of how Matt saw the wider home. Despite its scale and finish, The Point didn’t feel precious or disconnected from its surroundings. It felt close to nature and easy to imagine living in.
Looking back, Matt recongises that same quality in the Coast Homes he has photographed since. It isn’t simply proximity to the ocean that creates the feeling. it’s the natural light, stone, timber, texture and connection between indoors and out.
You don’t feel seperate from nature. You feel part of it.
Perhaps that’s what stayed with Matt most about The Point: It is a beautiful home we could all actually see ourselves living in.
Thanks for trusting us with this one, Jasmin and Dean.
