Outside The Frame - Passel Estate

Join us in another Outside The Frame adventure!

This time we hit the road and head down south to the stunning wine region of Margaret River.

This photoshoot was for Passel Estate, a beautiful new winery owned by Wendy and Barry, 2 wonderful people and an extremely photogenic (bonus for us) couple.

Our job was to create a marketing image library from the ground up to showcase all the magic this brand has.

The images we created were for the new website launch, large prints on the Tasting Room walls and for print adverts.

We had the pleasure of photographing all aspects of the operation… the Vineyard, Winery and Tasting Room. For those who don’t know the difference, a Vineyard is where the grapes are grown and a Winery is where the wine is produced. The Vineyard for this estate was also where the Tasting Room presides. All were so beautiful, it was an awesome place to spend a couple of days making images.

This estate also has something quite unique located in the middle of it – a possum sanctuary! This sanctuary contains some of the oldest peppermint trees in the region. A family of Western ringtail possums were relocated to this sanctuary after the Margaret River bushfires in 2011. They hope this sanctuary will be home to many other native species.

We learnt a lot while we were shooting this beautiful winery, one of which is this estate is fortunate to have soil comprising classic gravelly loams over clay that help the production of the fruit iconic to this region.

The exciting thing about this Outside The Frame is we had 2 new toys to play with while we were down there. The first being a shiny new drone! Matt and Henry went back to school (drone school that is) and both completed their CASA commercial drone pilot licences which is super exciting as now we can take images and videos from up in the clouds. Our other exciting new toy is the Osmo which is an awesome alien looking contraption that allows us to move the video camera around smoothly and seamlessly to follow the action. Overall this shoot was so much fun and we are so excited to be a part of the whole process. The Passel Estate Tasting Room officially opened early January so if you’re down in the Margaret River region, stop in and say hi!
