Location:    Sum Effect Studio and we’ll be out and about in the surrounding areas (City of Cockburn, Fremantle and Perth) in Western Australia

Why Do It

When offering product photography as a service, you’re exposed to a mixed bag of requests and image styles you’ll need to create.

“Can you make this feel like summer?”.

“We want this to look nice and shiny”.

“This needs to look better than our competition”.

This course is about taking control of the photos you create. You need a skillset to draw from to pull off your client’s ideas, as well as your own. 

It’s heavily a lighting course and we get technical. We show you lighting setups you’ll use time and time again. And also tinker with more creative setups to help with curve ball briefs.

How You Learn

We teach you with one foot in the classroom and one foot in the real world. We’ll be shooting real briefs, with real products and paying clients who may be in attendance.

Product photography using studio lights and ambient light. Lighting setups include flat lay, tabletop and on model.

Studio-based on white shots, and creatively styled scenes.

Explore what outdoor locations can offer our product shots, in environments and on model.

  • Online access to Photography Basics – Composition: Find The Photo. For completion prior to course commencement
  • 7-Day intensive course. Attend in Perth, Western Australia from Sunday to Friday

Who Should Attend?

 

Suitable for all aspiring professional photographers who have completed our Photography Basics – Composition: Find The Photo.

You may have also completed photography specific coursework at a University, TAFE College or a similar educational provider.

This course assumes basic prior knowledge of photography and using DSLR cameras.

You have a product photography portfolio and are ready to next level.

What to Bring

 

  • DSLR or mirrorless camera with fully charged battery (point-and-shoot cameras and smartphones are not suitable)
  • Battery charger
  • Lens (whatever you have)
  • Tripod (if you have one)
  • Lights (if you have any)
  • Empty memory card for your camera
  • Any additional accessories you already own for shooting on your camera
  • Laptop with editing software (ideally Adobe Photoshop)
  • Notebook and pen
